The Hypothetical Final Post

You guys know I like writing challenges, and Dan offered up an unusual one today: If today were your final blog post, what would you say?

My first thought was…that’ll happen?? I can’t imagine not blogging, but I suppose someday I’ll have to wrap this up for whatever reason – my own circumstances, or the collapse of the internet, or the start of the zombie apocalypse.

Sorry. I’ll rein in the dystopian writing tendencies for two minutes.

I suppose my final post would be heartfelt. Like…

ballet-1376250_1280I hope you laughed and learned something new

I hope you’re thoughtful in whatever you do

I hope you never lose your sense of wonder

You get your fill to eat but always keep that hunger

May you never take one single breath for granted

God forbid love ever leave you empty handed

Crap. That turned into Lee Ann Womack lyrics.

There has to be a way to do this without plagiarizing country music.

Hmmm.

I suppose what my final post says depends on why I’m leaving. Maybe this is the dystopian future (hey, it’s been two minutes!) and writers are outlawed from saying anything. Then I’d leave like this…

…only to covertly reappear somewhere as part of the resistance. That would be cool.

In all seriousness, though, if I had to quit blogging for reals, it would be a difficult post to write. I started blogging because I enjoyed sharing my writing, and for some reason you guys enjoy reading my sometimes coherent ramblings. You even like and comment on them. So I would say thanks for coming along on this journey. The only reason I enjoyed it as much as I did was you, the readers.new thank you

Now I’ll copy that somewhere for future reference.

You never know when the zombies will appear.
